• Augeo Merlot with Gold Medal at Mundus Vini

    Augeo Family Estate Merlot Reserve 2016 is a golden medalist at the prestigious competition in ‎Germany Mundus Vini. Because of the high quality of the wine, the award is well-deserved. Over ‎‎7200 wines participated in the Spring Tasting of Mundus Vini.‎
    The wine challenge took place in Neustadt for the 24th time and this year it happened between ‎February 19th and 24th. The international jury of 260 wine experts, including 7 Bulgarians specialists, ‎ranked the wines from a total of 156 wine regions. ‎
    ‎“The quality of the wines up for assessment at this year’s Spring Tasting impressed our jury of ‎experts,” according to Christian Wolf, Director Degustation of Mundus Vini. “Particularly pleasing ‎were the variety of countries of origin – in addition to wines from Europe we tasted ones from ‎Australia, Chile, South Africa and China”.‎
    The awarded at Mundus Vini Augeo Family Estate Merlot Reserve 2016 has the opportunity to be ‎presented to trade visitors at the world’s largest trade fair for wines and spirits, ProWein in ‎Düsseldorf, from 17 to 19 March 2019.‎
    The Bulgarian producers won a total of 23 wines in this edition of the competition, which brought a ‎lot of pride for our country and solidified their place on the world wine map. ‎

  • Over 200 people visited Augeo’s vineyards for Trifon Zarezan

    On Saturday, February 16th, as soon as the sun rose over Augeo’s vineyards, the preparation for ‎Trifon Zarezan, the wine holiday began. Before 10 o’clock when the event was announced it would ‎start, the first guests already started to arrive. They followed the special Augeo signs, placed ‎especially for the event, and the GPS coordinates, and they discovered our meeting place. The ‎guests were greeted by three generations from the family of the producers – Maria, her son ‎Stoyan, and his daughter Gergana. ‎
    ‎ The celebration began with a ritual by priest Angel and the traditional pruning of the vines of the ‎emblematic for the region and for Augeo grape variety Melnik 55. All 220 guests had the ‎opportunity to try the pruning process, and most did. ‎
    Lots of music and good mood followed the wine tasting of all wines in Augeo’s portfolio. ‎Throughout the day the music performances by the Folklore program with performance groups ‎from the neighboring town Katuntsi ‎were alternating with folk songs and national dances. The ‎event’s guests joined a traditional horo dance, including some of our international guests from ‎Austria, England, Greece, Australia and South Korea. ‎
    The wines that recently received medals from competitions in England and China sparked a large ‎interest among the wine tasters. The wines from the traditional varieties Augeo Melnik 55 and ‎Augeo Ruen were tasted right next to the vineyards were the grapes for these wines comes from. ‎The new bio wine series, including Augeo Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 and Augeo Red Blend Reserve ‎‎2015 received an ovation. ‎

  • Trifon Zarezan on Augeo Family Estate’s vineyards

    On Trifon Zarezan, the celebration of Vine-growers and Winemakers, Augeo Family Estate will ‎participate for the first time at Melnik Wineries Open Doors Day. ‎
    On February 16th, Saturday, visit our vineyards in the beautiful Vranya village, where you could see ‎Rupite, Melnik Pyramids, South Pirin, Slavyanka, Orgajden and Belasitsa Mountains, Tepeto in ‎Vranya and the Holy Spirit church, as well as Promachon and Agkistro in Greece. ‎
    You could participate in the pruning of the vines of the typical Bulgarian varieties Ruen, Melnik 55 ‎and Shiroka Melnishka with the help of our vine-growers and to actively help the preparation of the ‎new vintage of Augeo!‎

  • Gold Medal in China for Bio Augeo Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 and Bronze for Augeo Ruen 2017

    Two of Augeo Family Estate’s wines won medals at China Wine and Spirits Awards Best Value 2019 in China.
    With its gold medal, Augeo Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is the only awarded Bulgarian bio wine in this edition of the completion, and with its bronze medal Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017 is the only wine from a typical Bulgarian variety with an award.
    The competition is the biggest and most influential in China – the country, on its way to become the biggest importer of wine and alcoholic beverages in the world and currently the fastest developing market for wine in the world.
    “I am very excited about the successes of our wines,” shared Gergana Manolova, marketing director and a partner in the producing firm Exquisite Wines. “We are receiving our first medal for a wine in our new bio series Augeo Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 and yet another award for Augeo Ruen 2017 and this makes me really proud,” she added.
    In mid-January in Hong Kong 100 jury members gathered for a blind tasting to give their marks for thousands of wines produced all over the world. The key element in forming the final conclusion for the medals was the quality of the wines.
    ”The jury members are professionals in the industry, selected for their expertise in wine and their knowledge of the market. A medal from CWSA for a wine is proof for excellent quality,” said Yu Kong Chow, a representative of the wine challenge.
    The gold medalist Augeo Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is a bio wine with limited series of 1809 bottles. It has a garnet color with medium to deep intensity. In the aromas could be found dried fruits, spices, dried tomato and forest grass. The taste is concentrated with underlined harmony immediately after tasting and in the center. The velvety finish is complemented with a spicy notes that correspond with the aromas of dried plums and forest herbs. The wine is one of four bio wines in Augeo’s portfolio along with Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2015, Red Blend Reserve 2015 and Augeo Syrah and Merlot 2016.
    Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017, bronze medalist of the challenge, has deep purple color with a fresh fruity aroma. The intensity is pronounced, as aromas of red and black forest fruits, floral notes, raisins and other dried fruits, as well as forest herb aromas could be discovered. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 7 months, which gives light oak nuances of the taste. The body is full with medium tannins and a long nice finish. Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017 won a medal as Commended Winner of International Wine Challenge 2019 England in November 2018
    The wines of Augeo Family Estate are medal winners in wine challenges on three continents. All white and red wines, as well as the rosés, could be tasted at the vineyards of the brand, which are in Vranya village, 12 km away from Melnik, on February 16th within the open days of the wineries in Melnik region, organized in relation to the wine holiday Trifon Zarezan.

    Save the date! Between February 14th and 17th 2019, the wineries in the Melnik region are opening their doors to visitors. In the event, that is traditional for the region, Augeo Family Estate will participate for the first time.   • Debut for Augeo Family Estate’s Bio Wines

    In the days before the holidays, Augeo Family Estate presented their new bio series of red wines. Augeo Family Estate Red Blend Reserve 2015 is a blend between 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 15% Melnik 55, has color with medium intensity and has rich aroma associations. Augeo Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2015 was aged for 12 months in French 225 liter oak barrels. Augeo Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 has velvety finish, complemented with a spicy notes that correspond with the aromas of dried plums and forest herbs. Augeo Family Estate Syrah & Merlot 2016 is a bio wine with limited series of 1868 bottles.

    The grapes were grown biologically in the villages of Kapatovo and Kromidovo, near Melnik in the Struma Valley in vineyards at a little over 200 meters above sea level, and were picked by hand.

  • Augeo Family Estate’s wines with awards in IWC 2019‎

    Two of Augeo Family Estate’s wines won medals at International Wine Challenge ‎‎2019  in England. Augeo Family Estate’s Melnik 55 2017 received 86 points and won a bronze medal and Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017 is a ‎Commended Winner.

     

    ‎“We have another reason to be proud of our red wines as Augeo Family Estate’s wines from traditional red varieties Melnik 55 and Ruen from vintage 2017 were the only red Bulgarian wines awarded at IWC 2019 in England”, said Gergana Manolova, Marketing Director and a partner in the firm Exquisite Wines.

     

    The jurying of International Wine Challenge 2019 took place between November 12th and 16th ‎2018 in South London. Over  200 experts in wine from 23 countries gave their marks after a blind tasting.

     

    The bronze medalist Augeo Family Estate Melnik 55 2017 has intensive color with cherry nuance. Intensive aroma that combines dark cherries, ripe forest fruits, dry tobacco leaves and almond nuts. The taste is soft from the start until the long finish. It has harmonic taste, with accents from fruit stones, dark cherries, dry forest grass and a hint of dark chocolate. Augeo Melnik 55 2017 is aged in Bulgarian oak barrels for 9 months, giving it notes of toast and tobacco, signaling its maturity and development.

     

    The Commended Winner Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017 has deep purple color with a fresh fruity aroma. The intensity is pronounced, as aromas of red and black forest fruits, floral notes, raisins and other dried fruits, as well as forest herb aromas could be discovered.     Augeo Family Estate’s wines are winners from wine competitions on three continents. Earlier this year, Augeo Family Estate Melnik 55 2016 won a Double Gold medal in China, Augeo Family Estate Rose 2017 conquered gold in China too and Augeo Family Estate Exquisite Rose 2017 received a gold medal in Canada. Augeo Family Estate’s white wines are also medalists from competitions in Asia and Europe.

  • Wine tasting of Augeo Family Estate in Vino Orenda Wine Shop

    In November Augeo Family Estate’s wines took part in the wine tasting held at Vino Orenda – wine shop specialized in Bulgarian wines. At the first wine tasting named Shiroka Melnishka Family, on the spot light was the unique grape variety Shiroka Melnishka Vine and its derivatives, all growing at the Struma Valley. The wines were mainly from grape varieties like Melnik 55, Ruen and Melnik 1300 made by various wineries from the region, including Augeo Family Estate Ruen 2017.

    At the one of the last wine tasting of the year under the impressive name Tsar Mavrud, the wine lovers had a blind tasting of wines from Mavrud grape variety, produced by various wineries under different technologies, Augeo Family Estate Mavrud Reserve 2016 was one of the guests’ favourite.
